Our Story
Coastal K9 Rescue is a volunteer-run, no-kill dog rescue based in St. Andrews, Antigonish County, Nova Scotia. We rescue dogs left homeless for whatever reason, whether surrendered by owners facing difficult circumstances or pulled from situations of neglect or abuse. Every dog in our care receives full veterinary attention, is spayed or neutered, and placed in a loving foster home while we find them the right family. We don't pick favourites. Every breed, every age, every dog gets a fair shot. Our adoption process is thorough because matching matters, and our commitment doesn't end at adoption day.
Our Mission
To rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs in need across Nova Scotia and beyond. We provide full veterinary care, place every dog in a foster home, and take the time to find the right match for each animal in our care.
Our Vision
Our vision is to create a world where every dog has a safe, loving home. One where no animal is left without options, and no rescue has to work alone to make that happen. We believe that world is possible, and we show up every day to build it.
Our Approach
We get to know every dog before we place them. We support adopters through the transition and stay connected long after adoption day. And we collaborate with other rescues and volunteers to build a stronger network for homeless pets across the region.

Coastal K9 Rescue Student Society
At Coastal K9 Rescue, we are proud to work alongside the students of STFX through the Coastal K9 Student Society. Their passion for animal welfare and willingness to show up for these dogs means the world to us and to the animals in our care.
Many of the dogs we rescue have come from situations of neglect, abandonment, or hardship. Getting them the care, attention, and love they need takes a community, and the StFX students who volunteer, foster, and advocate on our behalf are a vital part of that community.
